The Art of Words - Rites of Passage
Take part in a two-hour creative writing workshop which explores how you can begin to write about those life-changing events, whether in fiction or in life-writing.
Fiona Shaw began writing her first book following her treatment for post-natal depression after the birth of her second child. What initially began as a way of regaining the lost memories ended with the critically acclaimed and disturbing study, Out of Me, which was first published in 1997. Her first novel The Sweetest Thing, was published in 2003, followed by The Picture She Took in 2005.
**BONUS EVENT**
Why not join Susie Troup, Durham Book Festival Director In Conversation
with Fiona about her life and work with particular focus on her new novel, Tell it to the Bees (Tindal Street Press). This session takes place straight after the writing workshop.
A page-turning, involving read that makes you ask big questions about the world and its prejudices. Liberating and uplifting. Jackie Kay
