Thompson Building Centres
Thompson Building Centres and TAPS are the North East’s leading independent builders’ merchants and plumbers merchants, and provide a one-stop shop of products and services to both the retail and trade. In business for more than 50 years and with 5 builders merchants branches and 7 plumbers merchants branches across the North East, the company has flourished under the leadership of Managing Director Anne Ganley who has been at the helm for more than 30 years. Thompsons are also a strong supporter of the local community and charities and are currently assisting the Brothers In Arms campaign, to raise money to build a new memorial to the Wearside young men and women from the armed services who have lost their lives. The company has provided a free office and has put all of its resources at their disposal. Other charities they are involved in include the Grace House Hospice Appeal, The Sir Bobby Robson Foundation & Macmillan Cancer. A passionate believer in helping women in business, Anne Ganley and Thompsons have won a number of awards, including the prestigious Susan Dobson award for Entrepreneurship
